CATITUDE 1~'Caterwauling'

I had a LOT of fun painting this one. I found a photo reference of a cat in full 'yawn'. Also in this photo was a flower stem with it's bud in just the right position to suggest a microphone. The TV reality show 'American Idol' popped into my head immediately. And c'mon...anyone that's watched that show even once must have seen worse performances...right? Anyhoo...this poor cat's ears had been cropped off so I had to supply him with at least one and I replaced the flower bud with something that more resembled a real 'mic'..namely a prairie coneflower. Voila! A cat belting out a tune into his flower microphone. What could be better?

Billie, I predict that this one is going to fly out of the gallery (if that is it's destination)!! It is so well painted and it made me chuckle too. A winning combination.

This is so cute and I like your title. I like your sense of humor. Aside from being a painting that generates a big smile, it always amazes me how talented you are regardless of the subject matter. I bet I said that before but it's still true. Also, I like the proportions on this. I've been working in a square format lately and really enjoying it. Anywho, great work as usual. I love this blog system. I get to see great new stuff every day.

thanks Lisa! you are too kind...really. i'm usually 'title challenged' but this one came fairly easy.

i love a square format. not sure why. it just seems to work for a lot of my subjects.
