I Was Just Looking for Fellow Cat Painters......

I was curious what other cat artists were creating as I love painting cats myself. Not literally paint cats, of course. In the process of searching online I ran across the funniest website called,
'Why Paint Cats'
Burton Silver and Heather Busch published the book, Why Paint Cats featuring photos of elaborately painted real live cats. Apparently when the book hit the stores the reaction was everything from admiration to outrage. During further investigation I discovered the entire thing was an enormous(and profitable)hoax perpetrated by the writers and some clever digital manipulation. Why paint cats indeed. *grin*

Oh those images in the link are priceless!!

But I can't imagine any cat staying still long enough to be painted somehow.

aren't they hilarious?:D i'd love to get a better look at the one with Charlie Chaplin painted on his/her rear end.

the general consensus on Snopes.com is that these aren't truly painted cats but have been digitally manipulated in a photo editor to look like they are. the authors refuse to confirm or deny this. i know of no cat that would sit still long enough for something like this.

Talking about creativity! Yes I wonder how those cats stayed still while that was done, Hope they weren't sedated. Those are realy cute!

Mary, i kinda doubt any cats were actually painted. i think as Snopes does...the images were PSPed to look like they'd been painted. who knows?

whatever the case, it's a testiment to the creative minds of the authors.
