One more, this time the ubiquitous milkweed pods going to seed. It's a perfect subject for this type of surface because lifting is so incredibly easy. I created the fluff with nothing more than a 1/4" stiff bristle brush.
What fun! You are managing to get good rich color on that gesso. Long ago, I tried watercolor on gesso, and found it not to take watercolor well. Maybe I should have experimented more. I loved that flower from yesterday--so clear and bright, and the milkweed pod is great. :-)
Colors are far more vibrant on the white gesso, Anita. You want to go in with a good thick, creamy mix to get the full affect. It's fun to push the paint around, too. Watercolor is much more forgiving on this surface.

Wow, I love it! This series of natural pieces works so well. This is really striking.

Thanks, Jeanette! I'm enjoying doing these small pieces. I can finish one in a day and not get discouraged or worse...bored.
