Cutie Pie

I've had the urge to paint lop eared rabbits but I don't happen to know any at the moment. I do remember a boy in my childhood neighborhood that had a pet lop ear named Bandit. What a character that rabbit was. He acted a lot like a little dog and the bond between that boy and his rabbit was amazing. Bandit would fetch for him and they'd lay on a fold out chaise and just hang out afterward.

I wound up searching online for photos to reference and found dwarf lop ears. Talk about cute ! These rabbits look like a cross between a guinea pig and a basset hound. I plan to do several of these sketches to become familiar with how they look from different angles, study their markings and color variations, etc. I'd also love to find some videos so I can see them in motion. I have an idea for a painting but I want to be as familiar as possible with my subject first. Always a good idea.

This little guy is soooooo cute! Its good to explore your subject before tackling a more serious piece. I'm a firm believer in it.

I bought the girls a rabbit many years ago when they were small. It was an Easter bunny gift - literally. Rosie. She was sweet but would get out and I'd have to chase her all over the place to catch her. I still have scars...

I've been told some are little Houdinis, even getting themselves out of harnesses so I'm not surprised! I've been watching videos of these rabbits. There's a plethora of them Youtube. Enough to keep me busy for hours.

Scars? Were you bitten or scratched? ouch.....:(

That is definitely cutie-ness personified!
Hi Billie, you have been busy.. unlike me.. i feel like such a slacker doing some blog rounds today with most people still in full production mode.
Forgive my long absence.
Great to see your work, it always inspires me.

Hey Perugina, great to see you! No need to apologize. I take breaks now and then. Personally I need them to recharge. I seem to be a binge artist. lol

Aren't these little creatures the cutest things ever?! I've been sketching them from videos on Youtube and various other sources in prep for paintings. I'm not sure I can do them justice with paint but I want to try.
