CATITUDE 3~'Nosey Rosie'

Meet Nosey Rosie. Cats are naturally curious creatures and Rosie is certainly no exception as you can see. I experimented with a circular mat on this one. I 'd love to hear some feedback/opinions regarding the circular mat. Does it work? Does it not? I'm curious.........

that was me.... (thought you would be confused if I left it with Rebecca's screen name) sorry.

You have capture the attitude so well, Billie. Love it! I like the matted version, and yet as a series it makes more sense to have them similar. So glad I don't have to choose. HAHA!

good point! i already thought out that issue, Robin. all the cats in the series will have a black square outer mat with a dark purple inner mat w/1/8" reveal. Rosie will have the same two mats(same colors/reveal)only w/the round opening. the outer edge will be square. i think it should work.:-) i sure hope so anyway. i've decided i DO like the round opening for Rosie. it will act more as part of the comp than simply a mat.

Billie, I love this, the expression is fantastic. I first said definitely the one without the circle because I think your forshortening is so good but I also think that the one with the circle helps the title so much.

Thanks, Mary! i've grown attached to this one for some reason. she turned out just as i envisioned her..all nose. well, mostly nose. i'm trying to figure out where to sign this! maybe along a whisker?

I LOVE this one Billie! And the circular mat gives the impression of the cat looking through a small space (keyhole, mouse hole, etc).

It could be very interesting if the series each had a different shaped mat as the central point. A square outer mat for consistency then a circular, rectangular, triangular, etc. shape. Just my ramblings...

And whatever the case, your cat paintings are wonderful.

glad you like it, Jeanette! i was surprised when i posted Rosie on WC that several members didn't like the distortion. after seeing her w/the round mat they got it.

not a bad idea regarding the mat shapes. not sure how i'd work a triangular painting, tho. each cat in the series will have a different shaped format...square, round, rectangular vertical, rectangular horizontal and so on. i'm trying to keep to the same palette to tie them all together.

That's a really great image Billie - excellent!

I'm not sure I have a preference as to mats. I tend to think it's the one that shows the work off best in the company of others is the one to go for.

Hi Katherine.:) thanks for your comments. i agree about the mats. i 'matted & framed' them online, then did a panorama in my photo editor to see how they'd look together. it works but knowing me i'll change my mind a few times before finalizing things.

Billie I really like the crop. I agree that cats are so curious and this shows it perfectly. It's like they can't help themselves. I love the round mat. Like Jeanette I think it is like she is looking in a mouse hole.

Billie - I'm probably too late to add my opinion but I'm going to anyway! LOL! I prefer it without the mat or at least with a rectangular one. I love the contrasting shape of the cats face to the rectangular piece of paper. Fantastic perspective - love it!

Jeanne, glad you like the round crop. it seems to be the only way to explain the disortion to some people. when Raven was alive she and Gizmo, my other female cat had their noses in everything. i called them the Snoop Sisters among other things. LOL

Hey Anita! good to see you!!! sorry but you've been out voted on this one. i hope you like Rosie just the same.
