Wonderful News!

Daffodil
Buckeye Butterfly~~SOLD

I know I've been MIA for quite awhile but things have been...well...things. Recently some of my artwork has been accepted by Northern Michigan Artist's Market of Petoskey, Michigan and I couldn't be happier! Today I delivered two framed pieces to the gallery so I'm officially 'being shown'. There's still a lot of work to do on my part, tho. The annual gallery walk starts June 23rd and I hope to have several more pieces completed and ready to submit to NMAM.

I'm doing my own mounting and framing. I found out I can cook up a mean batch of wheat paste now! This is a wonderful opportunity and it's certainly a learning experience for me.

I've submitted my sprayed daffodil and a buckeye butterfly done in colored pencil.

Billie! How fabulous! Congratulations. But then again, you talent can't go unnoticed for long. You'll wow everyone who sees these images. Well done.

thank you, Jeanette! i'm thrilled to have this opportunity. i hope my work will be well received. time will tell. the gallery said they were looking for 'something different' and i thought(maybe)my sprayed watercolors would fit the bill. btw, i was also told people are looking for graphite pieces. have you tried taking your work to a gallery? you REALLY should.

I am so excited for you. From the time you told me you were going to approach them to late night chats about framing, I was so proud that you have this opportunity. Your work deserves to be seen, and I can't wait to hear what you cook up for the art walk. Way to go Billie!

Robin, i KNOW it was our weekly chats that gave me the impetus to approach a gallery. you've encouraged me a great deal and for that i thank you so much. you're a great friend.

I'm looking forward to hearing about the art walk.

Hi Billie! I was wondering what happened to you. I check your blog daily and I always hope to see something new. I know how "things" can happen so I completely understand. Congratulations to you! I'm happy to see you haven't wasted any of your away time. Your butterfly is fabulous. I never had the patience for colored pencil but I find myself drawn to well done works like yours. I can't wait to see what you post next!

good to see you Lisa and thanks for your comments! i'll be submitting several of my older pieces but i have a few ideas going right now for a couple of new paintings. it seems like everything is happening at once right now. feast or famine.

i never thought i'd enjoy colored pencil either but i tried it anyway and found the process was almost Zen-like...very relaxing. it was one of my first departures from graphite and taught me so much about color.
