Miss Willmott's Ghost~Macros

I've been admiring Deborah Kirby's garden photos on her blog. Beautiful floral closeups, Deb! My little Miss Willmott is growing up and in bloom and I finally figured out how to shoot in super macro mode with my new Canon PowerShot S5IS. Today I managed to snap a few decent shots despite the windy conditions. I'm surprised how many visitors to my blog are Googling for Miss Willmott. She's a popular lady!

  1. I can see why you like it so much - it's gorgeous. These are great photos as well. I love the pale colours and the structure of it - I'm rather fond of these thistle type flowers like these and artichokes and cardoons :>)

  3. These are fabulous flowers Billie. They really are ghost like. I think flowers like this are very complex and a real challenge to draw or paint.

I have grown milk thistle in the past and despite its cruel nature of vicious thorns, it is a spectacular plant.

  5. gee, i thought i answered you before, Jeanette. sorry.:( this plant does have thistle-like qualities. i really find it fascinating to photograph and paint. all the veining would be murder to draw, tho.

Billie I love these images. I need to go find the actual plant and see it in person. Such a beautiful structure, and the color that was captured in these photos is gorgeous. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

  9. Billie I hadn't had a chance to visit blogs for quite a while but I was stunned by these images as I came to your's. You are not only a great artist but a very good photographer.

I was also not familiar with Miss Willmott's, I guess we don't have her down here.
